What’s it all about?
This qualification is aimed at you if you are looking start a career in the hairdressing industry. This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 years and no prior qualifications are needed.
What are the entry requirements? For a Level 2 Vocational Study Programme students will need GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 3 or above plus a range of GCSEs at grade 3 & 4. You are able to re-sit GCSE English Language, and Maths and upon during your Study Programme and can look to progress on to a Level 3 course or into employment.
What will I learn on this course?
This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the hairdressing industry. These are compulsory areas:
- working with in the hair industry
- health and safety
- client consultation
- shampoo and condition the hair & scalp
- promote products and services
- cut women's hair
- colour and lighten hair
- perm and neutralise
- salon reception duties
- create an image
Centres and providers work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is ideal preparation for training on the job or specialist further study.

You will be assessed by a range of practical and end of unit online exams
