This is just a selection of comments we have received from parents/carer of our West Somerset College community this academic year:

I want to mention as well, how impressed we are to date with the communication and with the standard of the education offer. Mr Morris has been very helpful and is certainly a credit to the school.

We all appreciate your’s and the schools support with this and are happy that ‘our son’ will be continuing at West Somerset (for his A Levels). Both ‘my wife’ and I took solace in your comments earlier about the approach the school has with the students and agree that this will work much better for ‘our son’ than the pressures, challenges and environments at other institutions.

I just wanted to thank you all and Mr S and Mr T-G for all of the hard work that you put in to teaching and supporting ‘my son’ throughout his A levels. He is excited to be moving on to a new chapter at university and this is down to good teaching and support from you all (and some hard work from him). Good leadership, teaching and learning doesn’t get enough recognition so I just wanted to let you know how much we’ve appreciated all of your efforts.

The school has made such a significant turnaround since being in special measures and this is down to the great leadership – the community have a lot of positive things to say!

‘My Daughter’ tells me that some teachers just get it right.... her PE teacher is just very welcoming and positive in the way that she talks and interacts with her.

I find myself writing to you yet again to say thank you for supporting our son… Again and again your department has nailed home-schooling. On top of that you were ahead of the curve with live lessons!... Please accept our heartfelt thanks for keeping him on track, we couldn’t be prouder of him.
 

I just wanted to say how easy, flowing and straightforward the parent evening was from the comfort of my sofa.

Just want to say thank you for all of your support and helping ‘my son’. He has grown up so much and is barely recognisable as the boy who started three years ago… You should be very proud of your SEND team, they work very hard and always put the children at the centre of what they do.

I am emailing you as your speech to X2 recently has impacted ‘my daughter’ hugely re -passing GCSE's and how to view mocks, she is calmer and way more confident and trusts that you want to help her, you have given her hope and she hasn’t felt that way for a while! In such a strange world when someone helps another person (especially my child) I feel thanks should be given. Well done for bringing a positive to an otherwise potentially disturbing future for the year group.

I would like to thank you for all the help and encouragement you have given ‘my daughter’ with her maths. We have noticed that she has come on in leaps and bounds and is enjoying her math lessons.  ‘My daughter’ really hated maths until she joined your group and I never thought I would hear her say that she is enjoying the lesson and wishes that she had considered taking it as an A level.

[Live Lessons] I have also enjoyed listening to your lessons and your approach to teaching. I wish I had a math teacher you made the children enjoy learning the way you do.
